Here in Richmond Virginia, we have a beautiful preserved historic park called Maymont. How lucky are we? For a nominal fee a professional photographer can shoot anywhere on the grounds for a few hours. The park is beautiful. The scenery is divine. The story surrounding the grounds is amazing. It’s hard to imagine the family who lived on these lovely grounds. Maymont

is a treasure. Bella chose Maymont for her Senior photos. Isabella is a member of the class of 2017 at Matoaca High School here in Chesterfield County Virginia. She is smart, and kind. she loves animals. As you can see from her portraits she is also very beautiful. I have had the pleasure of photographing Bella and her entire family this spring.

I am looking forward to a busy Senior Photography Season here at Connie Grant Studios. I am already booking fall sessions. Such an exciting day is the day that senior photos are taken. The planning and consultative work that goes into the making of a photo, is probably one of my favorite things. Everyone is always a little nervous in the beginning of a session, it’s good to

get to know each other before. Bella in this blue dress is a stunning result of the planning and implementation of a perfect portrait. Thank you Maymont for your hospitality. This lovely young lady will never forget this day, and neither will I.

When you meet your soul mate you know it.

Olivia and Nate. A love story that has spanned the world and back again.

I can’t tell you how inspirational it is to me that these two joined together a blended family and have made it work.

The children are all sweet .. well behaved.. Some are on the brink of becoming adults.

This couple has seen good times, and trying times. Their youngest was born while Nate was deployed in the mid east.

They have been separated numerous times, the trials of a military family!

I honor our military families, every last member. From the youngest to the oldest child.. to the parents who watch their adult children go off over seas,

To a mom waiting to deliver and share the news with her husband while he is thousands of miles away.

The beauty of the dance #richmondballet

The absolutely beautiful art of dance. I love it. I have always loved it. I don’t know what it is that attracts me.. but girls in pink shoes and fluffy dresses who spin effortlessly around are the most amazing things.

Elena dances for the first company of http://www.richmondballet.com/… She’s as sweet as she is graceful and pretty. Her passion in life is training children and introducing them to the world of classical ballet.

I think that creative people have the same loves.. The love of art, the love of music, the love of creative dance. As a child, I had the most wonderful ballet teacher. As we left the studio we Curtsied and shook her hand. We learned manners and praise was handed out freely.

The Dance studio was one of my most loved childhood memories.

My studio is now one filled with lights and cameras, and sometimes Tchaikovsky.

Thank you Elena for spending the afternoon with me. I look forward to seeing your performances. This girl can fly!

Ashley and Jacob plus one {family photography Richmond Va}

Jacob and Ashley were here last week.. as well as Kirk Saint, my photographer friend from Nova Scotia.

We met in my back yard that flows over into my neighbor’s backyard and is surrounded by green and pink and apricot.. and every color you can think of this time of year. ( my neighbor’s yard is amazing this time of year)

These family photos are amazing. I knew they were going to be good, but when I pulled them off the camera card.. they were really good.

Celebrating a first birthday is a special event. Celebrating your family by capturing these moments is crucial. Once they are gone, they are gone for good.

So, capture some memories.. put them on walls. Be reminded of these days each time you pass by the photo. Tuck them away in Frames in bookcases.. Print large canvases. This is your life.

That’s what photography is all about..

I am a cake lover.. I admit it. I’m not an ice cream or a pie girl.. but cake gets my vote any day.

Maddy seemed to enjoy her first few bites.. a little tentative at first but then she was won over by that sweet concoction.

Chesterfield Virginia Family Photography

Located in the heart of beautiful downtown Chester Virginia. Wait.. does Chester have a downtown? hmm I may have to re think that intro.

I love family photography. I think it’s one of the most rewarding gifts you can give yourself. It’s the capturing and saving of a memory that once it’s gone.. it’s gone for good. Saving your family moments should be special, not something captured on a cell phone.. Photos are made to be printed, and hung and placed in albums and on canvases. They are meant to be viewed, and evoke a feeling when you walk past them. These two little girls.. oh man.. Seeing them this past week was so fabulous. These twins.. these little premie twins.. with a sick sick mom in the hospital for months before they were delivered.. then the babies in the hospital for months… wow. Now to see them celebrating their third birthday… It’s amazing to say the least. Actually, there are no words to describe it..amazing just isn’t a big enough word.

Class of 2017! Yes it’s that time of year.

It’s incredibly hard for parents when their child hits that Senior Year. The Class of 2017 is rolling in NOW.

VCU… for those of you who don’t know Virginia Colleges, VCU is fondly known to my friends and myself as the “miracle college”. Virginia Commonwealth University was one of my favorite places to have ever worked. So this Senior Photo shoot of this VCU graduating senior made me smile. … a lot. Kendra is as sweet as she is beautiful. She majored in Social Work with a desire to work with under privileged children… what a gem she is. These young people make me proud. They also make me realize that life is short… wasn’t I just in college? Oh well.. that’s another story.

Kendra’s photos make me swoon. She’s model like in her movements and those eyes~ oh my.

VCU is the “miracle college”, they perform state of the art surgeries, they graduate some of the smartest physicians and nurses.. teachers…accountants.. engineers…. the list goes on.

For those of you who didn’t follow Hailey Strong, please do. You will see that miracles happen every day.

I am proud to have been a part of the culture of this University and the University based hospital. Kendra is a Proud VCU grad. She worked hard to get that diploma. Taking her photos was an honor. I just really love my camera and the people it brings into my life.

Keep up the grand work Kendra!
