When to book your Senior Photographer

So,  when should you book your senior photographer?

Answer?  While you’re in your Junior year.

I guess that you may ask why?  Why would you book your senior photos in your junior year?   That’s an easy one. SENIOR YEAR IS BUSY!

If you think that any other year of school has been hectic and crazy busy then just wait until this last year of school .

There are so many things to get done before your senior leaves for college.  There are visits, and applications, and so many things to complete.

There are senior year activities that your senior doesn’t want to miss.. there are after school activities that they can’t miss ! There are grades and exams and college entrance tests..   tired yet?  Get ready, this year flies by.

So if you are finishing up your junior year,  NOW is the time.  Booking now gives you and your photographer time to establish a relationship. It gives you time to bring your photo dreams into a plan. It gives you space to develop the dream of what you want your photos to look like . It also gives you a choice of the best dates that meet your schedule.  Did you know that some of the school photos are due almost immediately when the Senior Year starts?  crrrrunch time 🙂

class of 2016! spring portrait shoot

this year.. oh my.. It was a long long winter, and a rough slow start to spring photography season….
well   …. Welcome spring! Welcome class of 2016… and Welcome Somer!
Senior portraits in the spring are the most wonderful things. This is a rite of passage for these young people . They celebrate being the upper class men. They celebrate prom.. They celebrate arriving at their destination. .. their senior year…it’s one of those times that paying for professional photos is a must.
Senior Portraits are priceless. This is perhaps the last formal portrait you will have of your rising senior until their wedding.. maybe college graduation.. but probably the last time your young one will sit for photos while they still live at home.
Life is so busy these days. This young lady has a full schedule, but nothing has stopped her from smiling for the camera. .  We did formal studio sessions and an outdoor session . I loved them both. Somer is so much fun in front of the camera.. and just plain fun talking to her even when not taking her photo. She is kind, and straightforward, and encouraging. I will always be honored to call her my friend. She is the daughter of two very proud parents who have done a wonderful job raising this child into near adult hood. I know for them this is a bitter-sweet time as she prepares for college and her last year at home.
Watching your child leave home .. hmm… the hardest thing I’ve ever done.
So.. capture these precious moments with wonderful photos. Have a look..  They don’t get much prettier than this. So many special Thank Yous to Somer and her wonderful mom.
xxoo

Beautiful Senior Photography… that’s my goal for the next few months…

Oh   That senior year. A High School Senior. This mom has two! With that comes the bitter sweet realization that both of her babies are leaving the nest at the same time. Twins.. they giggle.. they laugh.. they love and support each other. These two are so beautiful and so sweet. This week we have one photo shoot accomplished. This next  weekend we finish up with the second. These sisters are both beautiful and their Senior Photography shows their beauty.. Both of them talented in so many ways. Smart, athletic.. Introspective and shy.. outgoing and bubbly. Born at the same time.. moments apart. These two have shared their lives since the beginning. I hope they are always close. It’s been truly my pleasure getting to know this family. Today they made some hard photo decisions, but I think they made the right ones. These beautiful Senior Photos are only the beginning of this blog post..  I think it was SO important for them to have separate photo sessions. You be the judge.. any mom’s of twins out there? Leave me some comment as to how your twins are different and yet alike….    Next week part two! I think that High School Senior Photography and Family Portrait sessions are going to be my focus for photography from now on.  I’ve enjoyed so many moments with all of these young people. I feel their parent’s worry, and I am always surprised at how mature and smart they seem. Were we this smart in High School? I’m not sure…
